After a long and varied career with HSBC Bank plc, I set up Gladstone Coaching and Development in 2012 to enable me to share my passion and expertise in coaching, mentoring, developing and training people and supporting businesses to help them all excel.
I have extensive management experience in a wide variety of roles including managing and lending to portfolios of commercial customers, leading a number of branches as a branch and an area manager and in-depth HR knowledge as a Regional HR Manager. I also work in the NHS improving staff health and wellbeing and creating and developing management and leadership programmes.
With my husband Mike, we established an award winning B&B business in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside and so I know the challenges of setting up and expanding a business and delivering an excellent customer experience. In 2016 we were thrilled to be awarded the AA's Friendliest B&B of the Year Award in the UK. I feel I am therefore, well placed to advise businesses having both been there and done it myself and successfully financed the start-up and expansion of many businesses as a commercial bank manager.
My passion is helping people realise their potential. I am a huge advocate of working on a person’s strengths to enable them to achieve success; trying to develop and enhance what already lies within rather than spending time trying to fix what’s not there.
My inspiration comes partly from a series of books by British author Marcus Buckingham and as a mentor I have helped many people achieve great personal success once they have understood how best to use their strengths. As a coach, I am quickly able to build deep rapport and trust and help my clients identify, explore and achieve their personal goals. I'm told I have a warm, calming nature which helps people relax and really think about themselves and their future.
I'm not afraid to challenge and I encourage and help clients tackle the difficult tasks they have been putting off.
I have a Diploma in Professional Coach-Mentoring with The OCM.
I am a member of the EMCC.
“Alison allows people to achieve their full potential by engaging with them on a very personal level which instils trust, confidence and creativity.” Mark, Bedfordshire.
“Alison is absolutely consumed by the need to develop people and help anyone she comes into contact with truly realise their potential. She develops ideas and strategies around what will help people get better and then rigorously follows through in their delivery. Alison does exactly what she says she is going to do; manage, drive and develop her people to be the best they can be.” Chris, St Albans.
"Alison makes everything seem so straightforward; she's been my mentor and coach over the past few years and I have never felt more focused and driven towards the goal that I am working towards. Alison is always there to listen and offer direction, but above all, she really cares, which makes such a difference. I wouldn't have enjoyed such success in both my personal and professional development over the past few years if it wasn't for the hard work and effort that Alison has put in to mentoring and coaching me. Alison doesn't provide you with the answers, but she allows you to achieve such clarity with your thoughts that you can unlock the answers together.” Tony, Manchester.
“Alison instinctively looks to help people grow and reach their potential; she has a vast arsenal of coaching styles and strategies. I have seen Alison mentor many new managers at all levels helping and encouraging them to grow and become great people managers too. I benefited greatly from having her support and encouragement which inspired me to push myself and achieve more.” Helen, East Sussex.
“Alison is a talented people developer and outstanding coach. Her strength rests in her genuine passion and determination to bring to the surface the very best of an individual's abilities and matching these with honest and constructive recommendations on career development and progression.” Josef, Hitchin.
